ABOUT

Sandra Tinari is a Western Australian artist whose paintings explore the transformative power of light and colour.

Inspired by the extraordinary salt lakes, mineral terrains and vast skies of Western Australia, her work investigates moments when changing light turns familiar landscapes into immersive chromatic experiences.

Tinari translates these observations into vibrant paintings that move between landscape and abstraction. Rather than describing a specific location, her works seek to evoke the sensation of being within these expansive landscapes and the emotional response created through colour, light and space.

Photography remains fundamental to Tinari's process. More than three decades working internationally as a photographer, journalist and visual storyteller developed a deep sensitivity to light, atmosphere and observation. Today, field research undertaken across remote Western Australian landscapes continues to inform every stage of her studio practice.

Throughout her career Tinari has lived and worked across Australia, the United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East, producing exhibitions, public installations and cultural projects. Experiences in London, Italy, Portugal and Dubai broadened her understanding of colour, environment and contemporary spatial practice, influencing the distinctive visual language that now defines her work.

EDUCATION

Tinari holds a Bachelor of Arts (Photography and Journalism) from Curtin University and undertook postgraduate studies in Visual Arts at Central Saint Martins, London.
